Summary:
Students discuss what adjectives are. Teacher will give each partnership a picture of a noun and have students create a word cloud using adjectives to describe the noun. Students use abcya.com/word cloud to post their adjectives and see if other students can guess their noun.

Tasks:
1) Whole group discussion on defining what an adjective is.
2) Whole group activity where teacher shows a picture of a noun and students describe the noun using adjectives.
3) Small group partnership activity where each partnership gets a picture of a noun. Each partnership will collaborate, problem solve, use critical thinking, and decision making to come up with adjectives to describe their noun in a word cloud.
4) Partnerships posts their word cloud in Wiki. The class views each word cloud and tries to guess what the noun is. Students could also add more adjectives to each word cloud as an extension activity.
Personalization/Differentiation
Students will be able to choose their picture of a noun. Teacher chooses partnerships, partnering high/struggling or ELL students together.
Real-World Connection
Students need to know that they have to be able to describe nouns to find socks, a piece of clothing, or buy a car.
The students in the third grade class is the audience. Also, students' parent will enjoy viewing this at Parent Night. The word clouds could be viewed on school morning news for other classes to "Guess the Noun?" contest.
Assessment:
Students will be assessed by coming up with appropriate adjectives for their noun. Review the adjectives posted on word cloud.
